AEU2, AEU20 – Forms supporting Certificate of Correction

Certificate of Correction
Certificate of Correction

AEU2 was the old NYC Department of Buildings Certificate of Correction form. It was used to certify that all violating conditions on an OATH / ECB summons were corrected and to close the violation in DOB records. Today owners submit the same information online in DOB NOW instead of uploading the AEU2 paper form.

For NYC homeowners, the old AEU2 affidavit was the way to show DOB that all conditions listed on a Notice of Violation or OATH summons were fully corrected. Together with photos, invoices, permits, and inspection results, this correction package allowed the Administrative Enforcement Unit to change the violation status from ‘open’ to ‘corrected/approved,’ which was often needed before penalties stopped and records were cleared.

Simple explanation of Form AEU2 for homeowners:

The certificate was filled out and signed (usually notarized) by the owner, respondent, or authorized agent to state what work was done, when it was completed, and who performed it, including permit and license numbers where required. Today the same information is entered directly in DOB NOW when you file a Certificate of Correction online. Together with supporting documents (photos, invoices, permits, inspection results), it allows DOB’s Administrative Enforcement Unit to change the violation status from “open” to “corrected/approved,” which is often required before penalties stop and records are cleared.
