small homeowners who want to understand how a project moves from planning to
completion. Instead of learning only through lectures or technical documents, players
can see how decisions about timing, paperwork, money, and compliance shape the
outcome of a job.

system. The current version of the game already highlights funding, permit timing,
inspections, project phases, and risk events that can slow or disrupt work.
Players become more familiar with key ideas such as a DOB application, a building
permit, civil penalties, and the role of a contractor. On Iqarius.com, these terms are already
explained in practical homeowner language, including the difference between filing an
application and receiving a permit, the risks of unpaid penalties, and why proper
licensing matters.
Why this matters
For students, the game offers a simple way to understand project workflow before
stepping onto a real job site. For homeowners, it helps explain why projects can stall,
why approvals matter, and how missing paperwork or early work can lead to delays,
fines, or other problems.
